We are long overdue for a fundamental overhaul of the UK’s broken asylum system. Asylum Welcome has joined over 300 organisations and 500 individuals in calling on the incoming Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, to urgently address this critical issue.

Our current approach is simply not working. It punishes vulnerable people seeking safety, rather than providing the compassion and support they desperately need. This cannot continue – we demand a new way forward that puts communities, not camps, at the heart of the solution.

The government must listen to the voices of those on the frontlines, who understand the realities faced by asylum seekers. A blueprint for reform has been laid out, and it’s time for decisive action. Keir Starmer and his team have a moral obligation to heed this call and enact the changes required to build a humane, dignified asylum system. Anything less is a betrayal of our values as a nation.

The status quo is unacceptable. Join us in calling for real, meaningful change. The future of vulnerable people seeking refuge in the UK depends on it.
